Computer Scientist Assistant

Partial List of Responsibilities

• Webserver co-development
• Help with server and webserver maintenance
• Help with network administration and IT in general
• Experimental biological data formatting and entry
• Optimising data templates and procedures

Qualifications

• M.S. in computer science, mathematics, statistics or equivalent
• Experience with Django framework
• Experience with website and/or webservers development (HTML5/CSS/Javascript)
• Experience with biological data is a plus

Required technical skills

• Good with office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and/or equivalent)
• Web development
• Django framework
• Basic web development (HTML, CSS, Bootstrap)
• JavaScript (and common libraries like jQuery)
• Programming: Python or other script language
• UNIX operating systems/Bash scripting
• Basics in network administration and sysadmin
• Statistics

Appreciated technical skills

• R programming is appreciated
• Basic understanding of Subversion

Personal skills

• Hard worker
• Ability to work on big projects as part of a team
• Good organisation and optimisation of working environment
• Ability to manage multiple projects and overlapping deadlines
• Natural ability to problem-solve
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal are required
• Ability to communicate with experimental biologists, computer scientists and non-scientists
